On social media, the topic of child grooming and other illegal activity happening on Discord servers, as well as the Discord staff perceivably ignoring the issues, has been a subject of both viral debate and memes. In the following months, the presence of child groomers and child grooming servers on Discord was extensively covered by a number of publications, including articles by The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek and the New York Times. The exchange sparked massive response on Twitter, spawning the #ChangeDiscord campaign.
